Pilates is a form of exercise which aims to exercise the body in a balanced way. It can use many different positions in which to exercise and focuses on ensuring the muscles and joints are moving in the most efficient way.
It is a brilliant form of exercise as it is suitable for people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels from complete beginners up to elite athletes. It is also suitable for people with certain medical conditions.
What is Pilates and how can it help me?
Pilates can help to improve muscle tone, posture and flexibility and can be used to complement the training of athletes.
Furthermore, Pilates has also been shown to benefit those with low back pain.
Pilates can be most effective when the exercises are tailored to the individual as assessed by a qualified health care professional. At TK Physio you have the benefit of Pilates being taught by Tracy who is a qualified Physiotherapist as well as a Level 3 qualified Pilates instructor.

1:1 Pilates
One to one Pilates has the benefit of including an individualised assessment and exercise plan which is tailored to you and your goals. This can be for rehabilitation or to complement an existing training programme which is sport specific. Participation in classes requires an induction by all participants. Please contact us to arrange and induction or find out more.
Pilates in Rehabilitation
Pilates can be used in the rehabilitation and management of many different health conditions as well as following illness or injury and can be given as part of Physiotherapy treatment to aid recovery and return of function.
