How to Prevent Falls and Gain Stability with Physiotherapy

What is involved in falls prevention assessment?

TK Physio will carry out a full assessment of you in your home or in the clinic. This will take into account various risk factors which may be present to determine your overall falls risk.

It will take the form of asking you questions and also assessing your standing and walking.

These fall prevention assessments have been shown to reduce the risk of falls by 24% (Chartered Society of Physiotherapy) and enables us to specifically target your treatment intervention to your needs. You will be informed of our findings and the course of treatment and any action points concerning your home environment will be fully discussed with you.

What is falls prevention treatment?

  • Home hazard modification and advice

  • Advice regarding activities of daily living

  • Teaching you how to get up off the floor or keep yourself safe if you do fall

  • Strength and balance training

  • Rehabilitation of walking (this may include walking outside)

Through all this TK Physio will be with you every step of the way as we appreciate how scary a fall can be and how much it can affect your life. It is not something you should just have to put up with and we will work with you to regain independence, confidence and a better quality of life.

Falls prevention is about much more than just the physical. It is about your health and wellbeing (physical and mental) and having a positive impact on your life.

For more information or a chat please contact us, we would love to hear from you and help you take that first step towards a better life.
